A New Milford, NJ police officer responding to a fraud call at a local Bank of America branch tried to stop 21-year-old Sierra Palmer and two accomplices Tuesday afternoon, but he was nicked by the getaway car, authorities said.

Fellow officers from New Milford and several area towns chased the vehicle, first to Hackensack and then east on Route 4, before the trio bailed out in Fort Lee, Police Chief Brian Clancy said.

Police quickly collared all three.

Palmer was charged with resisting arrest and forgery. Fellow passenger Cynteera Carter, 19, also of the Bronx, was charged with forgery.

The driver, 18-year-old Darren Cassanova of the Bronx, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, eluding and conspiracy. He also received several traffic summonses.

All three were being held Wednesday in the Bergen County Jail pending court action.
